Climate and Democracy Project (CDP)
Welcome to the Climate & Democracy Project. We started up in 2022 supported by founding partners Traprock Center for Peace and Justice and the Wendell State Forest Alliance. In 2025 we became a Traprock project, allowing for better networking, information, and action on climate and democracy issues in the area. Traprock has had a long history of support for clean energy, climate action and opposition to nuclear power as well as weapons; this project reflects and continues those concerns.
The Garlic and Arts Festival
Garlic and Arts was initiated to support local artists and farmers in the North Quabbin and nearby towns. It succeeds, with hundreds of thousands of dollars circulating on the festival field each year, fueling the region’s creative and food/land-based economy.
Portal to the Future
The Portal to the Future highlights some of the ways that art, food, small-scale farming, renewable energy, smart transportation, care for the land, and hand skills all contribute to community-building and local resilience.

When, Where, and How

Park, Shuttle, Bike or Hike
Take the FREE shuttle provided by Franklin Regional Transit Authority to the Festival from off-Site Parking. Many thanks to FRTA and their drivers.
On site parking across from the upper entrance gate on Chestnut Hill Road is only available for carpools of 3 or more, and for accessible parking for people with ADA placards/plates.
On site parking beyond the lower entrance gate is also available and involves a walk to the lower gate along Chestnut Hill Road (near where the shuttle buses load and unload).
The Main Parking Lot and The Festival Shuttle: Everyone else, take the FREE Shuttle by following these directions to the festival’s main parking lot located at the intersection of Holtshire Rd. and Fairman Rd, just 1.5 miles from the Festival site. Shuttle buses leave approximately every 10 minutes and are a 7 minute ride to the festival. Buses run from 9:55 to 4:45 so plan your arrival and departure accordingly.
